This is an artist. His name is Christoper Noyes, and he makes more than music.

I wish I could describe what his music does to my insides, but I lack the quality words I would need. Instead, I ask that you listen to his newest song, ”Children of the Pyramid Builders.”

Amy WInehouse “Love Is A Losing Game”

I haven’t felt well lately. Today, I have a stuffy nose and a lack of will to go outside, but that’s not the kind of feeling I’m mentioning here. My insides feel like they’ve been turned off for roughly a week, and rust is starting to gather where life used to be. It’s tough to feel connected to anything when my routine is spending all day at my job, then coming home to spend the night in a home where I am the only one awake. I think being next to Kaity in twenty-three days will be healing, but until then I don’t have an answer to my problem.

I’ve never even taken the chance to listen to anything by Amy Winehouse besides “Rehab”, but listening to this song today is starting to turn those rusty gears inside of me.

In the strangest of ways, death is bringing life. Rest in peace, Amy.

Hate it

Haha, the continuing irony of it is that, if you click that heart in the corner…you’re still “like”-ing it.

I’ve been trying to cut words of general approval out of my vocabulary for a while, and the reward is sweet. When someone asks for my feelings about a subject, I try not to include the words “good” “like” or “nice.” Of course, there are times when something does have the quality of goodness or niceness, but I’m sure that with one more second of thought, a much more accurate word can always be found.

The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us by Sufjan Stevens

Listening to Pandora on the way to work each day is one of the best choices. I’ve been listening to a lot more Ben Folds Five, Animal Collective, Discovery, and inevitable Sufjan. Thanks for keeping me in good music, Pandora!

Ming & Mang / Grand Optimist (City and Colour Cover)
Vocals by Melanie Bertelson
Instruments by Aaron Burns

Melanie messaged me “I’ve been singing along with this song tonight, and I think I sound good.” (Melanie never lacks confidence.)  She recorded her vocals with her mac, and a few long nights with Garageband later recording was finished.

This was such a fun project to do with a friend. I’m glad I could help, Mel :)

“And I want to walk around with you.
Just you, just you, just you, just you.”

Happy fourth.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

In the end, everything will be okay.
And even if it’s not,
the hope for a better tomorrow
will have sustained me
throughout it all.

Gorgeous and appropriate for me, too.
